Angel Reyes was the featured guitarist with R&B Singer Sylvester in the early seventies in San Francisco. after that Sylvester disbanded his group, Sylvester and the Hot Band and fled to Paris, France.  Upon his return to San Francisco, (courtesy of the French Government, who frowned upon his particular kind, and especially if you could not prove that you had return air faire), he quickly formed another musical troupe including Angel Reyes on guitar. Sylvester’s band quickly became the toast of the town, having sell-out crowds every night at their regular gig at the Caberet Club. Sylvester's band later became Rock City and then simply The City.  They also ventured down to sunny Southern California and played the Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles in 1974.  Before heading off to L.A., they played the famed California Hall on Polk St. in San Francisco, headlining over Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Anna Rizzo and the A Train and others, including Christine (Perfect) McVie who later joined Fleetwood Mac.  He toured extensively throughout the Midwest, Canada and the Pacific Northwest Regions with recording artists the Francisco Bros.  Angel has played with blues singer and Hammond organist Glenn Lane and the Soul of the Blues, with Sly and the Family Stone former madman drummer Anthony (Zap) Warren.  He has also played with Lady Bianca in Sylvester’s band, backed Boobi Roosevelt Barnes from Chicago, and Guitar Shorty.  Recently he has played No. Ca. gigs with Mere Mortals and Willie G, and has played the Monterey Blues Festival backing up delta guitar player Guitar Mac. With Mac he also has played the Mount Shasta Blues Festival and the California State Fair.  He has opened for Johnnie Taylor, Bobby Blue Bland and backed Vernon Garrett, Joyce Lawson and B.B. Queen from Oak Park, Mi.  In August, 1999 he was chosen by the Jimi Hendrix Family to compete in a guitar competion in New Orleans, Louisiana performing his rendition of You Got Me Floatin off of Axis Bold As Love.  Later, he was featured in Vol. 3, Issue 6, Jan/Feb 2000 of the Official Jimi Hendrix Magazine - Experince Hendrix.  He has also played at Eli's in Oakland, benefiting Sonny Rhodes, the Texas slide guitarist whose touring van caught fire while on tour in Florida.
